June 28: First day at Hokushin Elementary School
I woke up kind of early and just layed around for a bit, then Sonomi came running in, looked at me for a few seconds like she had something to say and then just left. It was kind of weird, and makes me wish I had a lock on my door.
I got ready, had breakfast, and then a teacher came and picked me up and drove me to Hokushin Elementary, my new school. There was a little mini welcoming ceremony in the gym where I had to give a brief introduction of myself, and then I went back to the teachers` lounge for the first two periods to talk to the teachers about lesson plans, and I was also able to use the internet for the first time in over a week (not counting the times Will let me use his computer whenever I went over to his house). Maybe I should`ve invested in one of those little personal WiFi things that plug into your computer. Oh well.
Anyway, my first class was third period. I helped out with the fifth graders (Hokushin only has one class for each grade). We practiced saying `I like` blahblahblah and learned some new vocab (fruits, animals, sports etc). Then I went to the sixth graders where we practiced greetings, so like `How are you@?` `I`m fine, and you?` et cetera. I ate lunch with the fourth graders, then came back and read a little Hana Yori Dango before getting pulled into cleaning the foyer with some other students. After cleaning was over I had my last class of the day, which was the fourth graders. We did number bingo and they asked me a few questions about myself at the end. I even ended up giving out a few more autographs.
After that, another teacher drove me home and I took a nap. Or, rather, I closed my eyes and tried to nap with Sonomi coming in every couple of minutes to ask if I was still sleepy, because she wanted me to come play with her and Chihiro and one of their friends. I finally got up because I had to pee, but because I could get to the bathroom I ran into Sonomi, so she introduced me to the friend who wanted to meet me, who was actually just leaving for dinner and gave me a really cute purple hair clip.
I played the Wii with Sonomi and Chihiro for a little bit before dinner, and then we ate a little after 6. We had okonomiyaki that Mie made at the table, which was really yummy.
Then me, Sonomi and Chihiro went on a walk. Originally I was just gonna go by myself, but they wanted to come along so we went together. It was actually really fun, and even a little productive because they go to Nisshin Elementary, which is where Taku goes and also the school the Nishidas live right by, so we walked there and now I know how to get to the Nishidas` place from the Tamiyas`, which is awesome. I`m slowly learning my way around Shinjo. Hopefully I can come back here if I get accepted to JET next year, since I know it so well that`d be one less thing to stress about.
Anyway, after we got back from our walk I took a quick shower, finished the third Never Ending Story movie (even with Jack Black in it, it`s so not as awesome as I remember), and went to bed.
